Actually, I spent most of my afternoon on my Ash Wednesday sermon . . . but will be ramping up on the Transfiguration passage in Matthew tomorrow. Homiletics is comparing the transfiguration to sunlight which isn't a bad metaphor . . .it just isn't capturing my imagination and energy. I was chatting with someone at Presbytery who planned to talk about how our (human) faces "light up" during special times in our lives--seeing our children, grandchildren, etc. More personal but still not quite what I'm looking for. I'd like a metaphor that references a much rarer event but keeps the human element.
